Primghar, Iowa — We’re less than two weeks away from Election Day and O’Brien County Auditor Barb Rohwer says you will need an ID with you when you vote for city and school board elections on November 5th, and from now on, every time you vote.
She gives us some background.
She says most people will use a driver’s license, but they do accept other forms of ID as well.
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate says you can also get a free Voter ID card from your county auditor.
Voter ID laws have been a political issue for years, but Pate argues it brings integrity to our state’s elections.
A Polk County judge recently upheld a majority of the state’s Voter ID law, stating that the requirement for voters to show identification at the polls does not violate the state’s constitution.

On a related topic, Rohwer says this Friday at 5 p.m. is the deadline to request that an absentee ballot be mailed to you.
The general election, which this year will focus on school board and city council candidates and issues will be on Tuesday, November 5th.
