Blood Supply In Critical Need, Help Them Out In Sibley

Sibley, Iowa — Many, many blood drives had to be canceled recently due to first snowy, then flooding weather conditions in the tri-state area. That means the blood supply is at a critically-low level. But you can help at a blood drive in Sibley this Thursday, March 21st.

The Community Blood Bank Bloodmobile will be at Osceola Community Hospital. Their executive director, Ken VerSteeg tells us about it.

Hospital staff say you can call the Osceola Community Hospital Lab at 712-754-5358 for more information or to reserve a time to give, but they do take walk-ins.

Donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org, weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. VerSteeg says that the health of donors has been another issue.

He says they’ll even set you up with some juice and cookies before you have to continue your day.

One other thing — if you’ve been outside the United States in the last three years, they ask that you bring a list of the countries and cities that you’ve visited.

For more information you can visit www.cbblifeblood.org.
