Bloodmobile To Do Two Drives In Sheldon On Wednesday

Sheldon, Iowa — The Community Blood Bank bloodmobile is coming back to Sheldon.

Community Blood Bank Executive Director Ken VerSteeg says that they will actually be holding two public blood drives in Sheldon this Wednesday, November 8th. He says they’ll start off early at Village Northwest Unlimited.

Again the first blood drive is from 7:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. at Village Northwest Unlimited and the second one is from 12:00 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. at Sanford Sheldon, both on Wednesday, November 7th. They tell us that the whole donation process takes 30 to 35 minutes.

VerSteeg says while the need for blood and blood products is constant, he tells us why specifically they need blood donations now.

To be eligible to donate you must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. You are asked to bring an ID with you. It is recommended that you eat, and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood. Ver Steeg suggests maybe a sports drink as that will give you fluids plus electrolytes. He says walk-ins are always welcome.
