Bootsma Resigns As O’Brien Co Supervisor, Process Of Replacing Her Begins

O’Brien County, Iowa — At their meeting earlier this week, the O’Brien County Supervisors accepted the resignation of Sherri Bootsma from her position on the Board as Supervisor District 1.

Bootsma’s resignation was due to her moving out of O’Brien County and became effective Wednesday.

Bootma’s departure leaves a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors and O’Brien County Auditor Barb Rohwer says there are two methods available for filling the District 1 seat. The first, she says, is by appointment.

Rohwer says the other option would begin with special conventions of the two political parties in O’Brien County.

Rohwer tells KIWA that the committee comprised of the O’Brien County Auditor, Recorder and Treasurer are scheduled to meet this Friday to decide on which method will be used to select Bootsma’s successor.

The County Supervisor seat up for grabs is for District 1, which makes up a large part of northeast and eastern O’Brien County.
