Sutherland, Iowa — There’s a unique fundraiser going on to help fund a renovation project at the Prairie Heritage Center near Sutherland. You could be the proud owner of a genuine American bison. Yes, a real one.
Sarah Fiddelke is the office manager at the Prairie Heritage Center and she tells us more.
Fiddelke explains that the Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association is running the raffle. She says there are actually a few ways that people can buy raffle tickets or donate to the cause.
She tells us where the idea to raffle off a bison came from.
She says there will be more fundraisers. They hope to start construction in the spring or summer and would like to be done by sometime in August. About $200,000 needs to be raised.
