Car, SUV Damaged In Accident In Sheldon On Wednesday

Sheldon PD car police spdSheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man’s SUV and a Sheldon woman’s car were damaged in an accident on Wednesday (1/9) in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 3:55 PM, 59-year-old Ricky Cannoy of Sheldon was westbound on Highway 18, on Sheldon’s west side in a 2000 Jeep. Twenty-year-old Alexandria Hunt of Sheldon was northbound on Western Avenue in a 2001 Pontiac.

Hunt was stopped for the stop sign, facing north. Cannoy attempted a left turn onto Western, but the sun was in his eyes, according to the report, and he misjudged the turn and nearly struck the Hunt Pontiac head-on.

Cannoy’s Jeep received $2000 damage. Hunt’s Pontiac received $4000 damage.

There were no injuries reported.

Cannoy was cited for failure to have control.
