Northwest Iowa — Scattered showers and thunderstorms will work through the area into the evening hours and bring the threat of spotty damaging wind gusts to 70 mph along with quarter-sized hail.
A few spots, especially southwest Minnesota, could see some locally heavy rainfall.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 pm for Lyon, O’Brien, Sioux, and Osceola counties.
Much of the rest of this week will feature showers and thunderstorms at times, starting today with the passage of a cold front through the evening, then returning again Thursday and Friday, potentially even lingering in some locations through Saturday. Today’s storms will come with a risk for a few severe storms with damaging wind and large hail by afternoon and evening, with another severe threat coming with storms later Thursday night through Friday evening. Hot weather will be mainly confined to northwest Iowa and nearby areas today, then some cooler temps in the 70s to lower 80s should be found most areas this week.
