Chance Of Winter Storm Ahead

A band of snowfall will move across the region late Saturday into Sunday.

Moderate to heavy snowfall rates are possible at times Saturday night, which could lead to rapid accumulation in a relatively narrow swath. Currently, this appears most likely north of I-90, from east central South Dakota into southern Minnesota, though uncertainty remains in exactly where the heaviest snow will fall. In addition to the falling snow, breezy northerly winds of 15 to 30 mph may cause patchy blowing and drifting snow. If you have travel plans Saturday night into Sunday, plan for additional drive time, or consider altering your plans.

Chilly temperatures settle into the region today, with readings holding in the single digits and teens most of the day. Scattered flurries this morning will give way to partial sunshine this afternoon. Most locations will drop back into the single digits for lows tonight, with sub-zero readings likely in Minnesota and northeast South Dakota. Temperatures rebound quickly Saturday, with highs in the mid 20s to mid 30s. Clouds will be on the increase by afternoon, ahead of a quick moving snow system which will impact the region Saturday night and Sunday.
