Cherokee Man Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charges

Sioux City, Iowa — A Cherokee man has pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of possessing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say evidence presented at plea hearings showed that from June 2022 through May 2023, 62-year-old Roger Strickland received and possessed child pornography. Agents searched his home on May 25th, 2023, and seized evidence. Prosecutors say that while they were awaiting forensics test results of electronic devices, law enforcement was again notified that Strickland was receiving and possessing additional child pornography. In total, over 225 videos and 8,000 images of child porn were discovered on electronic devices.

Sentencing is pending completion of a pre-sentence report. Strickland faces a possible maximum sentence of not more than 20 years’ imprisonment on each count.
