Community Services Center Undergoing Exterior Maintenance

Sheldon, Iowa — You may have noticed work being done on the exterior of the Sheldon Community Services Center building in recent days. City Manager Sean Hutchison tells KIWA that the work is maintenance on the 78-year old structure.

Hutchison describes the work being done.

The Sheldon Community Services Center building opened in 1939, then underwent extensive renovation and remodeling which led to a rededication in 1998.

Prior to the 1998 remodeling project, the building housed a gymnasium located where the Police Department and upstairs meeting rooms are now situated. And prior to that remodeling, the Sheldon Police Department was housed in a small building just east of the Community Services Center. There is now a parking lot on the area where the old police building stood.
