Conservation Board Offering Outdoor Opportunities For Kids

O’Brien County, Iowa — The O’Brien County Conservation Board is offering a multitude of opportunities for youth to get outdoors and EXPLORE this summer. These activities are targeted for young people between the ages of 5-12. The first opportunity to get outdoors and explore is coming up on Tuesday, June 13, and may involve a little getting wet, according to O’Brien County Naturalist Charlene Elyea.

For that camp, called “Wading into Wetlands,” youth are encouraged to meet at Douma Park near Sanborn to explore the water’s edge with dip nets and poles. She says there will be games and activities that will help participants learn about the creatures in the water. Elyea says kids should plan to get a little wet as they’ll get cool and learn about water animals. She says they will meet in the shelter at 9:30 a.m. The fun will conclude at 11:30.

For more information about the event, Elyea says you can call the O’Brien County Conservation Board at 712-295-7200.
