Council Discusses Audit

Council ChambersSheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council met Wednesday they heard a favorable report from the City’s auditing firm. Tom Hinrichson, representing the accounting firm of Winther, Stave and Company reported that they had discovered only a few minor items where there was room for improvement and steps have been taken by the city to make the necessary changes. The audit was for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. Hinrichson did comment that he felt the end of the year general fund cash balance of $587,830 was a ‘little low’, but after some council members asked how he arrived at that view, he did agree that it was not a real concern.

Hinrichson exressed his appreciation for the cooperation of the City staff and for the good work they have been doing.

At their Wednesday meeting the council approved Jett Korver as a new member of the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team and approved the final payment of the 2014 Runger Street Improvement project.
