Court Dates Pushed Back For Woman Accused Of Kidnapping Daughters

Clay County, Iowa — A pretrial conference for a mother who allegedly kidnapped her three daughters in Royal in September — prompting the issuance of an AMBER Alert — has been postponed.

Clay County Chief Deputy Zach Larsen reported that the three girls were located in good condition in Sanborn the same night they were allegedly taken. Deputy Larsen says the girls’ mother, 25-year old Danica Arzaga, was the subject of a search that ended when she was taken into custody in Woodbury County the next afternoon. Arzaga faces three counts of Kidnapping in the Third Degree, all Class “C” Felonies.

According to court records, Arzaga has pled not guilty and has waived her right to a jury trial. The pretrial conference was to have been on Tuesday, November 14th, with her trial on December 12th. But both have been pushed back. The pretrial conference is set for January 2nd, and the trial is scheduled now for February 6th.
