Dordt University Announces Key Leadership Transitions

Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt University officials tell us Dordt has announced significant changes in its administrative cabinet. Dr. Brandon Huisman has been named Vice President of Advancement and Marketing, and Greg Van Dyke will serve as Vice President of Enrollment. John Baas, who has served as Vice President of Advancement for nearly 20 years, is stepping down to focus on his health.

Dordt University President Dr. Erik Hoekstra began the succession planning process over 18 months ago, considering both internal and external candidates. Hoekstra emphasized that these leadership transitions were initially planned for the summer of 2025, but unforeseen circumstances moved the timeline up to January.

Huisman, who previously served as Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing, is passionate about Christian higher education and looks forward to his new role. Van Dyke, previously Director of Admissions and recipient of a 2023 Annual Service Award for Outstanding Achievement, has been part of the admissions office for over 20 years and is excited about his expanded responsibilities.

John Baas will transition to a senior development officer role, allowing him focus on his health. Under Baas’ leadership, Dordt University raised over $103 million through the “Planting for the Future” campaign, the most successful in the university’s history.

President Hoekstra and Baas both expressed confidence in the new leadership, citing God’s perfect timing for these changes. The Dordt community is encouraged to keep Baas and his family in their prayers as they navigate this transition.
