Northwest Iowa — Five northwest Iowa businesses and pre-revenue businesses have been selected as finalists to pitch for $5,000 of start-up capital at EntreFEST in Iowa City on May 21st, and one of them is from our four-county area.
The finalists are American Hero Clothing in Larchwood, Jackson Street Brewing in Sioux City, TreePans.com in Akron, Marto Brewing Company in Onawa, and Triple Threat Threads in Spencer.
Contestants submitted their ideas online and posted a video for voters to learn more about their businesses and plans. For two weeks, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets were used to spread the word. The top business in each category was guaranteed a trip to Iowa City for the pitch-off event, and four others in each category were chosen based on the quality of their application and votes.
Cash awards will be given to first through third place on May 21st in Iowa City. Winners of each category will then go on to pitch for grand prize money of $10,000.
EntreFEST will be held in Iowa City from May 20th – 22nd.
