Hull, Iowa — A senior at Boyden-Hull High School is one of thirty-three Iowans nominated by Senator Joni Ernst for admission to the various military academies.
Senator Ernst has nominated William Rankin of Hull for admission to the U.S. Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Ernst is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard and member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. She announced the U.S. Service Academy nominations Friday morning.
Senator Ernst says that, as a combat veteran, and mother of a West Point Plebe, she considers it an honor to nominate Rankin, along with the other thirty-two high school seniors for admittance to the U.S. Service Academies. She says each of these students has exemplified strong leadership, dedication to academics and commitment to community service. She says the nomination is an important step in the admissions process, and she’s proud to assist Rankin and the other students in reaching their goal of serving the nation in uniform.
Each year, Senator Ernst nominates Iowa students to the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
