Farmer’s Market Nutrition Checks Now Available

Sheldon, Iowa — Iowa Farmer’s Market Senior Nutrition checks are now available at the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation Office, which is located in the Sheldon Community Services Center.

The purpose of the Farmer’s Market Senior Nutrition checks is to help make sure that Iowa’s seniors have access to fresh fruits and vegetables from their local farmer’s markets.

To be eligible to receive these checks there are a few guidelines. Qualifying seniors will be:
60 years of age or older
Must live in the service area of this Area Agency on Aging
Single yearly income is less than $23.107
Married couple yearly income is less than $31,284

Sheldon Chamber Director Shanelle Matus tells us how to go about applying for the Farmer’s Market Senior Nutrition checks.

The SCDC Office is located in the Sheldon Community Services Center downtown, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to noon, and 1:00 to 4:30 pm. You can call them at 712-324-2813.

Sheldon’s Farmer’s Market is held every Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, and every Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the old train depot, located on Business 60 in Sheldon.
