According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, about 2:45 PM, the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of garage on fire at 344 South Main Avenue. That’s on Highway 75 across from Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

The chief says the fire department saw that the garage was fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire, but immediately took a defensive mode, defending a nearby garage and camper.

Van Holland says no injuries were reported. He says the cause of the fire was accidental.

As with all structure fires in Sioux Center and Hull, both the Sioux Center and the Hull Fire Department responded.

Chief Van Holland reports that the garage was totaled.

He says they used three to four thousand gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for about an hour.
