Grassley Visits Sheldon, Rock Rapids

Northwest Iowa — Iowa’s senior U.S. Senator, Chuck Grassley was in northwest Iowa Tuesday morning as part of his annual 99 county tour of the state.

While in Sheldon, Senator Grassley toured the Maintainer Corporation plant with Maintainer management and employees, and got a lesson in the way Maintainer’s production facility operates.

Following his tour of the Maintainer plant, Grassley answered questions from the Maintainer employees and invited guests. The Senator fielded questions on topics ranging from tariffs to a balanced budget, to the subject of attracting employees in an area with low unemployment.

Following the Q & A, he met privately with local media, and was asked to comment on the 4-way race for the 4th District U.S. House seat currently held by Congressman Steve King.

When asked about the EPA Ethanol Waivers granted to some oil refineries, Grassley says a continuing conversation with President Trump will be very important to get the RFS back to where it was originally supposed to be.

When asked if he thought the current low commodity prices would rebound, Senator Grassley had this to say.

Following Grassley’s Sheldon visit he left for Rock Rapids, where he was scheduled to tour the new Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital.
