Humboldt Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Child Porn Charge

Sioux City, Iowa — A Humboldt man has pled guilty in federal court to sexual exploitation of a child. 44-year-old Paul Flett entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.

As part of a plea deal, Flett admitted to sending links and images of child pornography to underage girls and asked them to send images and videos of themselves to him. On June 6th of last year law enforcement executed a search warrant on Flett’s residence and during an interview with authorities, admitted to throwing his phone in a closet when officers arrived. A forensic analysis of the phone, a computer and an online account turned up 16 videos and 60 images of child porn including prepubescent children, infants and toddlers.

He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison with a possible maximum of up to 30 years in prison. Flett remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
