Icy street in Sioux Falls cause fire, domino-effect of vehicle collisions

Sioux Falls, South Dakota — An icy street caused several headaches Wednesday in Sioux Falls.

KELO Radio reports shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, fire crews were called to a house along 19th Street near Southeastern Avenue in Sioux Falls for a report of a garbage truck that hit a power pole, which landed on top of a house and started a small fire.

As Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded, they parked two of their large engines at the bottom of the hilly street.

A Sioux Falls Fire Rescue pickup truck also responded to the scene parked further up the street.

As the pickup’s driver was walking down the street toward the scene of the fire, his vehicle then began to slide down the hill.

Authorities say the sliding pickup struck another vehicle parked along the street.

The parked vehicle then slid down the street and collided with the two firetrucks parked at the bottom.

And you thought you had a bad day.
