Just 11 Positive COVID Tests In Four-County Area In Past 7 Days

Northwest Iowa — Just eleven positive COVID test results were reported in the four-county area of O’Brien, Osceola, Sioux and Lyon Counties during the past seven days, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

This week’s total of eleven positive tests is down seven from last week’s total of eighteen. This week Sioux County led the way with six positives, with a 3% positive rate, that’s down three from last week’s total of nine positives. Lyon County reported four positive tests with a 4% positive rate, down from six positives the week before. O’Brien County remained steady with one new positive and a 1% positive rate, the second consecutive week with just one positive test. In Osceola County there were zero positive tests this week, down from two a week ago.

COVID-related deaths in the four-county area remained steady this week, with no additional deaths reported. Since the pandemic began, 187 of our friends and neighbors in the four counties have succumbed to a COVID-related illness: 74 in Sioux County; 56 in O’Brien County; 41 in Lyon County and 16 in Osceola County.

Statewide, as of early Monday afternoon, there were two COVID outbreaks in long-term care facilities. The IDPH reports 11 cases of COVID among the residents and staff at the Risen Son Christian Village in Pottawattamie County and 6 cases at Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Worth County.
