Keep Hydrated To Stay Healthy This Summer

Sheldon, Iowa — Summer is right around the corner, and one important thing to remember to stay healthy in the heat, is to remain well hydrated.

Anna Riley is a Dietitian with Sanford Sheldon, and she says you should drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.

She says while we normally think of remaining hydrated in the summer months, it’s important year-round.

Riley says if you’re not sure you’re well hydrated, there’s a very simple test that gives instant feedback.

She says remaining hydrated is easier if you make a habit of drinking enough each day.

She reminds us that water is not the only fluid you can use to hydrate. She says low fat or fat free milk, low sugar juices, and even ice tea can help keep you hydrated, but she cautions against high sugar beverages like soda.
