KIWA/Sheldon Chamber Blood Drive Went Well

Sheldon, Iowa — The blood drive in Sheldon yesterday went well. That from Lauri Hoffmann, the Coordinator of the Community Blood Bank.

She tells us that the blood drive, which was hosted by KIWA Radio and the Sheldon Chamber was, in her words, “fantastic.” She says that there were 33 total units collected which will help 99 local patients and their families.

Ken Versteeg, the Executive Director of the Community Blood Bank explains how one unit of blood helps three patients.

He says the people who showed up at the bloodmobile did much more than just give blood.

For more information and to check when the Community Blood Bank will be in your area again, go to  cbblifeblood.org. They will be at both Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids and Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon on October 6th.

The Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of blood and blood products to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center and many of the hospitals in our area.
