Light Snow And Wind Wednesday Night Into Thursday, Followed By Artic Plunge

Northwest Iowa — Rain will change to light snow on Wednesday night and continue into Thursday.

While snowfall totals are expected to be under 2″, northwesterly winds gusting 40 to 45 mph may result in some blowing and drifting snow – mainly over southwestern MN and northwestern IA.

Changes will be coming by midweek as unsettled weather and colder temperatures move into the area. Mostly cloudy with dense fog early today. Milder on Wednesday with rain changing to snow at night and continuing into Thursday. Winds will be increasing through the period. Temperatures will then turn much colder by the end of the week.
Bitter cold Arctic air engulfs the region this weekend into at least early next week. Dangerous cold wind chills of 20 to 30 below or colder are possible at times, especially Sunday and Monday mornings.
