Local Schools Soon To Be Back In Session

Northwest, Iowa — It is that time of year again, as the summer begins to wrap,  the bells will soon be ringing through the halls of the school buildings as students make their ways from one room to another.

We looked toward local school districts for their upcoming start dates for the halls to be filled with the minds of the future.

The vast majority of schools in the four-county area will be starting up this coming Tuesday, August 23rd. Those schools include Central Lyon, George-Little Rock, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, Sheldon, South O’Brien, Harris-Lake Park, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Boyden-Hull, MOC-Floyd Valley, Rock Valley, Sioux Center, and Spalding Catholic. Trinity Christian, West Sioux, and Western Christian join them starting Tuesday as well.

A couple of schools have given their students the ability to have one more day before starting up for the 2022-2023 school year, West Lyon, and Gehlen Catholic will be resuming classes on Wednesday, August 24th.

One school in the area varies their start date. We reached out to Unity Christian and found out that freshmen will be back in class on Tuesday, August 23rd, and others will resume on Wednesday, August 24th.

Many schools have shortened first days back, so it is always a good idea to be sure to be familiar with the school calendar for early dismissals.
