Lyon County Conservation Looking For Volunteers; Hosting Information Night Monday

Inwood, Iowa — The new Education Center at Lake Pahoja near Inwood is seeing a lot of use lately. The Lyon County Riverboat Foundation held its grant ceremony in the building this past week. On Monday, the facility will host an informational night and call for volunteers at Lake Pahoja.

Lyon County Naturalist Emily Ostrander is inviting people to come out if they like to take kids fishing, if they have a hobby they’d like to share, or if they enjoy the outdoors and would like to make sure others also have that opportunity.

She says the Lyon County Conservation Foundation and Board are hosting the informational night, looking for members who would be interested in helping in different areas.

She says it might be in a fishing club that helps with schools and nursing homes that come out to fish. Ostrander says perhaps you have a talent you would like to share or you’d like to help with larger events throughout the year.

She invites everyone to come and learn about volunteering and enjoy some appetizers and desserts from Shari’s Kitchen and Catering.

That’s Monday night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lake Pahoja Education Center.
