Man Hospitalized, Woman Jailed After Incident

Inwood, Iowa — A man was taken to a hospital and a woman was taken to jail after an incident in Inwood early on Sunday.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 2:00 a.m., their emergency center received a 911 call reporting a hit and run accident at Park and Washington Streets in Inwood. They report that with the help of a witness deputies were able to locate the vehicle that was allegedly involved. It was found four miles east of Inwood.

They report that the vehicle was driven by 25-year-old Sonia Oyervides De La Torre of Kirkhoven, MN. Deputies believe Oyervides De La Torre was leaving a residence in Inwood when her boyfriend attempted to enter the vehicle while it was moving. They say the boyfriend was allegedly drug for approximately a half of a block before falling into the road.

The Sheriff’s Office says Oyervides De La Torre did not stop and left the scene.

They report that the boyfriend was transported to the Canton Inwood Hospital. They say his injuries were described as serious.

Oyervides De La Torre was arrested and was charged with reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor; and failure to stop at a personal injury accident, an aggravated misdemeanor.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the Canton-Inwood Ambulance and the Inwood Rescue Squad assisted them.
