Monthly Sheldon Food Distribution Needs Volunteers

Sheldon, Iowa — Northwest Iowans who are in need of food can take advantage of a monthly mobile food bank that comes to Sheldon once a month. But the effort, called the “Honor God Ministries Food Distribution” is in need of volunteers to help every time the mobile food bank comes to Sheldon.

Megan McCabe is one of the people who help run the program, and she tells us how it got started.

But, she says, they are in need of more volunteers.

She gives us an idea of what they had in mind.

McCabe says even if your group cannot supply that many volunteers, they’ll combine smaller groups or individuals so they have enough help. The time that they would need you would be from about 3:15 to 6:15 p.m. If you’d like to volunteer, you can call McCabe at 612-481-4789.

If you are in need, the food is available at the Sheldon Armory every first Monday of the month from 4:30 to 6 p.m. She says they do have a form that people need to sign, but she says no one looks at it for proof of income or anything like that, and if you feel you are in need, just show up for some free food.
