Northwest Iowa — Unlike most years, there was actually some concern this year whether corn would reach “knee high by the fourth of July.” For quite a while, corn has been much taller than knee-high by the fourth.
But Iowa State University Extension Agronomist Joel De Jong says most of the corn made it to at least knee-high.
He says the weather hasn’t been too bad lately.
At the beginning of this week, 64 percent of corn in the state was in good to excellent condition.
