No Additional COVID Deaths, Positive Test Results Down During The Past Week

Northwest Iowa — No new COVID-related deaths were reported in our four-county area of Lyon, Sioux, O’Brien and Osceola for the past week, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The weekly report lists no additional COVID-related fatalities, leaving the total for the area at 186 since the pandemic began; 73 in Sioux County, 56 in O’Brien County, 41 in Lyon County and 16 in Osceola County.

Sixty-two new positive test results were reported in the four-county area during the past seven days. That’s ten fewer positive test results than the previous week, according to the IDPH. This week’s positive test results include 27 in Sioux County with a 4% positive rate, 14 in O’Brien County with a 4% positive rate, 11 in Osceola County with a 6% positive rate and 10 in Lyon County with a 3% positive rate.

For several months of the pandemic, Iowa nursing homes saw widespread outbreaks. Thankfully, in the Monday report there are just two long-term care facilities in the state with COVID-19 outbreaks; Urbandale HealthCare Center in Polk County reports 18 cases among residents and staff, while Parkview Manor in Washington County reports three cases.
