Northey Makes Predictions About Trump & Trade

Bill NortheyNorthwest Iowa — President-elect Trump won strong support during last week’s election from voters in rural America.

Spirit Lake farmer and Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey thinks the new administration will put a new, much-needed focus on farmers and farming.

While Trump is on record saying he doesn’t like most, if any, of the current trade agreements, Northey says he doesn’t think it means Iowa’s many millions of dollars in ag exports are in jeopardy.

Northey, a Republican, sees trade agreements as being highly beneficial to agriculture, especially to Iowa agriculture.

Northey says Iowa is “a good example of the things that can work” with respect to international trade.
