Northwest Iowa — If you see a lot of tractors parked at your local school this week, just chalk it up to National FFA Week.
National FFA week is celebrated at many of the schools in northwest Iowa. Sheldon High School FFA Advisor Gene Bomgaars says it’s one of the ways they try to tell the public about FFA, which, while it’s still tied to agriculture, no longer stands for Future Farmers of America.
Bomgaars tells us what they’re doing this week at Sheldon High School.
He says this Tuesday will be prep day for a number of FFA members.
Mr. Bomgaars tells us that on Wednesday, some FFA members are going to wear a certain kind of apparel.
According to Bomgaars, there will be a focus on apparel on Thursday as well.
He says Friday is the day in Sheldon when you may see alternate school transportation.
Designated a national week in 1947, the week of George Washington’s birthday, National FFA Week runs from Saturday to Saturday and gives FFA members an opportunity to educate the public about agriculture.
