O’Brien County Fair Starts Saturday

Primghar, Iowa — Next on the county fair schedule will be O’Brien County. The fair in Primghar gets underway on Saturday.

Among other events, they’ll have the Annual Antique and Classic Tractor Ride on Saturday morning. And at 7 p.m., they’ll have auto races sponsored by the Primghar Jaycees.

On Sunday, among some 4H requirements, there’s also a horse show at 1:00.

There are lots of activities on Monday, including a rabbit show, a petting zoo, judging of open class horticulture and flower arranging entries, a stage dedication ceremony, a sheep show, a dairy show, the Bill Riley Talent Search Show, presentation of the Value Added Ag Award, and at 8 p.m., they’ll have the Fair Queen & King Coronation.

Tuesday’s activities start bright and early at 7 a.m. with the O’Brien County 4-H Foundation Pancake Breakfast, which goes until 10. Among the other activities, there’s a beef show, a Steam Punk Camp, a petting zoo, a traveling artist, the Bucket/Bottle Calf Show, Kock’s Mini Train & Ferris Wheel Rides, and the Pedal Tractor Pull. Tuesday evening’s entertainment is a singer. Phil Vandel’s show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday’s activities at the O’Brien County fair include a swine show, the 4H Pet Show, a rooster crowing contest, Monkey See, Monkey Zoo Camp, a dog show, ventriloquist David Malmberg, Animal Adventures Camp, the Livestock Judging Contest, Share the Fun Entertainment and Evaluation, a 4H style show, and the Citizenship Club project awards. The O’Brien County Farm Bureau Watermelon Feed is from 5 to 7. The evening entertainment is ATV races and auto races.

And on Thursday it’s the Livestock Sale and NEW Project Ribbon Sale, and there’s a dance from 9 p.m. to midnight.
