The O’Brien County Community Foundation is a charitable foundation created by and for the people of O’Brien County to receive gifts from individuals, families, corporations, private foundations, and governmental agencies. Some seed money comes through County Endowment Fund legislation (HF2302) passed in 2005 which provides that a percentage of state gambling revenues be distributed among all Iowa counties that do not have a gambling entity.

These funds and gifts from the public are carefully invested and the income from endowments is used to make grants to public charities that best meet the needs in the county.
