One Death, Eleven New COVID Cases Reported Here Friday

Northwest Iowa — One new death and eleven new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Friday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Friday’s reported death was a resident of Sioux County. O’Brien’s death total remains at 54, and Sioux’s is now at 67. Lyon’s remains at 40, while Osceola’s remains at 13. The death toll for the area is now at 174 since the pandemic began.

Six new cases were reported in Sioux County, three in O’Brien County, and one each in both Lyon and Osceola counties. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since that time.

Out of the 1,421 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,315 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
Out of the 4,687 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,481 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 96%.
Out of the 1,762 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,630 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
Out of the 658 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 626 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 95%.

Osceola County currently has 19 active cases, down four cases in the last 24 hours. There were 78 in O’Brien County, which is up one, and 66 in Lyon County, which is down two. Sioux County has 139 active cases, which is up two.
