Sutherland, Iowa — Over 400 area high school students will get a chance for some hands-on agriculture experience this Tuesday through Thursday at the Iowa State University Northwest Research and Demonstration Farm near Sutherland.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach associate educator Beth Bunkers tells us about what they’re calling “Precision Agriculture and Animal Science Field Days.”
Bunkers tells us that there are several topics to be covered, including drones.
She tells us about the goal of the field days.
Bunkers says students from about 20 schools will be taking part from as far away as Emmetsburg and Akron.
She says there are so many animals to cover that they have put them in a four-year rotation. Next year Bunkers says they’ll have beef and dairy again.
Bunkers says the program keeps growing every year. She says it’s a great opportunity for the youth, and she’s excited about having such a large number of students taking part. For more information, you can contact Bunkers at the O’Brien County Extension Office.
