Pastor’s Pie Auction Termed Huge Success

O’Brien County, Iowa — The recently-ended Thanksgiving Pastor’s Pie Auction has been proclaimed a huge success by officials with Conquering Cancer for O’Brien County, the organization that is the beneficiary of the funds raised by the pie sales.

Conquering Cancer 4 O’Brien County’s Pam Thornton says the $1475.00 raised will be used to help those in O’Brien County who are dealing with the dread disease.

She says Conquering Cancer 4 O’Brien County has another fundraiser scheduled for early December.

Conquering Cancer 4 O’Brien County came into existence about a year ago, after splitting off from the American Cancer Society and their annual Relay For Life event. Thornton explains the reason for the move.

She went on to express Conquering Cancer 4 O’Brien County’s gratitude and appreciation for everyone involved the the Pastor’s Pie Auction.

Seventeen pies donated by members of the Sheldon Ministerial Association were on the auction block, raising a total of $1475.00. Pastor Nelson Jenkins of Crossroads Community Church earned bragging rights for this year, with his Reese’s Peanut Butter Pie bringing the highest price at auction, garnering a winning bid of $160.00
