Northwest Iowa — If you don’t have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving or no one with which to share the holiday, there are some community Thanksgiving meals planned in our corner of northwest Iowa.
Pastor Paul Van Maaren of First Reformed Church in Sheldon invites you to join them for their Community Thanksgiving Meal on Thursday, November 24th at 12:00 p.m. If you’re going to be alone for the holiday they invite you to attend. They’d like you to call Karla at the church office at 324-2130 by Friday, November 18th to reserve your place. Transportation is available if needed.
In Sibley, you’re invited to Thanksgiving Dinner at 12 noon on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24th, at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 601 Sixth Avenue in Sibley. It’ll be in the Fellowship Hall. Organizers invite you to give thanks together with them, and they say all are invited. There will be no charge or any freewill offering.
In Orange City, they’ll have a Thanksgiving Day CommUNITY Meal at Living Water Community Church. Serving will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24th. Everyone is invited. There is no cost for the meal. It’s made possible through donations from community churches, businesses, families, and individuals. Take-out and delivery are available. Call the church for more information at 707-5100. A Thanksgiving worship celebration is also planned in Orange City for Wednesday night, November 23rd at 6:30 p.m. The time of Thanksgiving and praise will be at Trinity Reformed Church.
In Rock Rapids, there will be a free community Thanksgiving Dinner served for anyone who would like a traditional meal, but has no where to go or no one to share it with. It will be at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24th at 12 noon. Call the Rock Rapids chamber at 472-3456 or First Reformed Church at 472-3729 by Friday, November 18th. Rides will be available as well as take-out or delivery orders.
