Regents Approve Tuition Hike At The 3 State Universities

Northwest Iowa — If you, or your child, attend one of Iowa’s three state universities, you can expect to start paying more for your education.

At their meeting Thursday (June 8th) the Iowa Board of Regents approved, by unanimous vote, another tuition increase for resident undergraduate students attending Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa.

The tuition increase for this fall’s semester amounts to $358, or 5-percent more than last fall.  The Board of Regents had approved a 2-percent hike in December of last year, but felt they were forced to bump it up an additional 3-percent after the Iowa Legislature cut nearly $21-million from the current budget year, and $9.6-million for 2018.
