Sioux Falls, SD — A Rock Rapids retailer will be under new ownership, come 2020.
Campbell’s Supply Company purchased Rock Rapids Farm Supply in 1983. Campbell’s now says their company has been sold to Runnings Supply Inc. The two family-owned retailers are becoming one at the end of the year.
They tell us the purchase includes all seven Campbell’s Supply stores. They have a store in Rock Rapids, as well as South Dakota stores in Madison, Mitchell, Sturgis, Vermillion, and two Sioux Falls locations. Those and the Sioux Falls-based home office and distribution center are all part of the deal.
A letter posted in the stores says that right now, services at Campbell’s will run as normal, and uses language such as “partnering with [Runnings]” and the “two companies coming together as a team . . .”
The Campbell stores sell tools, farm and home supplies, clothing, outerwear, lawn and garden supplies, sporting goods, and more.
Runnings sells many of the same types of products and was founded in 1947 in Marshall, Minnesota. They currently have stores in Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, New York, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.
