Rock Valley Senior Living Complex To Be Rebuilt

Rock Valley, Iowa — The $6.5 million senior living facility that was destroyed in a July fire in Rock Valley is going to be rebuilt. That’s from the secretary of the board of investors of the RiverView Ridge Senior Living Center.

Jim Vander Velde tells us that they hope to build nearly exactly what was planned before.

He gives us an idea of what’s planned.

Vander Velde tells us that the facility was two weeks from opening in July when the fire destroyed the building. He says the fire sprinkler and alarm system was nearly installed, but was not operational when the fire broke out.

He says insurance covered basically everything, but of course, the cost of construction goes up every year, and he says it will cost about 10 percent more now to build.

The facility will be south of Dollar General along Westview Drive in the western part of Rock Valley, near the golf course.

The demolition of the former facility is complete. Vander Velde says they hope to start construction after Thanksgiving, and if all goes well, they hope to be finished in about a year.
