Ruotolo Enters Not Guilty Plea In Infant’s Death

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has entered a not guilty plea to charges stemming from the death of his infant daughter last summer.

20-year-old Larry Ruotolo, Jr. is charged with 2 counts of Felony Child Endangerment in connection with the death of his 5-month-old daughter, who allegedly sustained injuries requiring hospitalization on two consecutive days while in her father’s care and which, authorities say, caused her death.

Ruotolo entered a written not guilty plea to the charges earlier this week, according to online court records. His next court appearance has been set for August 10th.

Two others also face charges in connection with the case. The baby’s mother, 21-year-old Brittanee Baker, also faces two counts of felony child endangerment. She is scheduled to be arraigned on June 1st. And a third individual, 49-year-old Stacie Hurlburt, is being charged as an accessory after the fact for her alleged role in helping cover up the circumstances leading to the infant’s injuries. Hurlburt is scheduled for arraignment on May 27th, according to online court records.
