Sheldon, Iowa — Are you getting up there in age and just want to make sure that your heart is still working without a hitch? Well, if you are a resident of Sheldon, then you are in luck. Sheldon’s Sanford Medical Center is offering discounts to heart and vascular screenings.
On September 15th, from 8 am to 5 pm, Sheldon residents can come to Sanford in Sheldon and get heart and vascular screenings for $25 each. The heart screenings are used for uncovering critical details within patients’ hearts. Sanford recommends the screenings for residents of the ages between 40 and 75.
The heart screen includes the following tests: CT calcium score, EKG, non-fasting cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and Framingham score (which is a risk estimate for developing heart disease in the next 10 years).
The vascular screen examines details about the health of the patient’s vascular system. The screening is recommended for patients age 40 and older, although people with type 1 diabetes should be screened at age 30 and older.
This screen includes stroke/carotid artery ultrasound, abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound, and ankle/brachial index.
