Sheldon, Iowa — Last year, when the students at East Elementary School in Sheldon arrived for their final day of school before the Christmas break, they were welcomed by the school’s principal, Jason Groendyke, who was dressed as an “Elf On The Roof”, a spin-off of the “Elf On A Shelf” phenomenon. This year, the students were welcomed by an entire cast of Christmas characters on the roof of their school building..
East Elementary Principal Jason Groendyke says they felt they needed to top last year.
Groendyke says the kids’ reactions to the scene were great.
Groendyke expressed his appreciation for his staff going above and beyond to make the day special.
He says the last day of classes before the Christmas Break will dismiss at the normal time, but the day will feature games and movies, along with class lessons.
