Saturday Is Small Business Saturday & Christmas Parade Of Lights

Sheldon, Iowa — This Saturday, November 28th, is Small Business Saturday, a day when folks are encouraged to do their Christmas shopping at their local merchants’ stores.

Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation Chamber Director Shantel Oostra tells us about this year’s Small Business Saturday.

(As said) “(We’re) SUPER excited about Small Business Saturday, we’ve got lots of great businesses here in Sheldon and we just ask that you come out and support them this holiday season. There will be deals, a few of the businesses will be giving out goodies. Stammer Liquor will be in our plaza from 1:00 until 3:00, doing a Holiday Taste Testing. So just pop in, grab a little test and make your way back out. Just fun things going on downtown and you’ll want to check them out.”

It’s no secret that 2020 has been a tough year on everyone, not the least of which being small businesses. Oostra says it’s important to support your local businesses, especially this year.

(As above) “We’ve got great businesses that are very supportive of events that happen here in town. They give donations all year long, so let’s make sure that we get out and support them. We want to keep them open and keep them here, they do a great job. So let’s support them in this holiday season, and all year-round.”

Sheldon’s Small Business Saturday will culminate with the Christmas Parade of Lights, but Oostra reminds us to not congregate to watch the parade.

(As above) “While we encourage you to make your way downtown for shopping throughout the day, we do ask that you avoid downtown for the parade.”

The Christmas Parade of lights begins Saturday evening at 5:30, and will be video streamed live on the KIWA website, kiwaradio.com. The parade will include a special Jeep Parade, comprised entirely of decorated Jeep vehicles. The Jeep Parade is sponsored by Ron Drenkow Motors and KIWA Radio.
