School Board Accepts Bid, Awards Contract For Turf Field Project

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community Schools-Northwest Iowa Community College Turf Field Project is one step closer to becoming reality after action at Wednesday’s meeting of the Sheldon School Board.

Sheldon Community Schools Superintendent Cory Myer says the Board held a public hearing about the project during their Wednesday meeting.

Myer says fundraising efforts for the project are nearly complete.

To that end, Myer says the Board awarded the contract for the  project to the low bidder, Schmillen Construction of Marcus.

He says the completed athletic complex will be a tremendous asset to the community of Sheldon.

Construction on the project is set to begin this spring and be completed for use by the Orab football team, as well as the Marching Orabs band, this coming fall.
