School Districts Feeling The Pinch Of Inflation

Sheldon, Iowa — As we’ve heard on the news lately, inflation is at a level not seen in decades. Higher prices affect not only family budgets, but school district budgets, as well.

Sheldon Community Schools Superintendent Cory Myer tells KIWA that, despite what the district has budgeted for the year, inflation is forcing the district to pay more for everything they buy.

He says inflation has a direct affect on the school district’s bottom line.

The cost of gasoline and diesel fuel has skyrocketed in recent weeks, and Myer says there’s not a lot they can do to reduce fuel costs.

He says, however, that the district is in a good financial position to help weather the storm.
