Sheldon Business Celebrates Grand Reopening & Ribbon Cutting

ACF Ribbon CuttingSheldon, Iowa — A longtime downtown Sheldon business celebrated their Grand Reopening and Ribbon Cutting Friday morning.  A Country Florist was purchased by Amy and Wayne Burnette, who took ownership January 1st of this year.  Friday, a Ribbon Cutting was held for the business.

Sheldon City Councilman Greg Geels spoke on behalf of the City of Sheldon at Friday’s Ribbon Cutting, congratulating the Burnettes on this “new step in their lives”.

Sheldon Development Director Curt Strouth spoke on behalf of the SCDC, calling business succession a key to small communities.

The Burnettes were presented a plaque by Ambassadors Club President Skip Tanner.

A Country Florist’s owner, Amy Burnette, talked about their Grand Reopening/Ribbon Cutting.

A Country Florist has a long history in downtown Sheldon. Prior to the purchase of the business by the Burnettes, it had been under the ownership of Jill Koedam for the previous 10-years.  Prior to that the business had been owned and operated for several years by Dorothy and Wilfred Kooiker, who started the business in the early 1980’s.

A Country Florist is open at their 303-9th Street location Mondays from 9 to 6, Tuesday through Friday from 9 to 5:30, and Saturday from 9 to 2.
