Sheldon Council To Meet In Regular Session Wednesday

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will hold the first of two regular meetings for April this Wednesday, April 6th.

One of the items on the Council’s “Consent Agenda” for this meeting is the approval of an agreement for the City’s partnership with Village Northwest Unlimited for the fireworks display during VNU’s Independence Day Celebration, which is scheduled for July 1st. Also on the Consent Agenda is the approval of an applicant for the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, and another for the Sheldon Fire Company. The Consent Agenda allows the Council to cast one vote for all the items contained in it.

In other action, the Council will hold a public hearing on the closure of a one-block section of 7th Street to facilitate the demolition of the fire-damaged Bethel Reformed Church building. Councilmembers are expected to approve the closure following the public hearing.

The Sheldon City Council is also expected to authorize the application for a Community Development Block Grant for the creation of upstairs downtown apartments, which are to be located above the former Vision Center location on 9th Street downtown.

Also on the agenda is a possible closed session to discuss employment conditions of employees.

Wednesday’s meeting of the Sheldon City Council will be called to order at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon in Council Chambers, located on the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center. The meeting is open to the public, or you may watch it, live, via YouTube Live.
